The good news? It doesn’t take much. Just a few smart habits that go a long way. Here’s everything you need to know to keep your lenses clear and your goggles in top shape, season after season.

1. Never touch the inside of the lens (seriously)

This is rule number one in ski goggle care, and it gets broken all the time. The inside of most goggle lenses has an anti-fog coating, a super thin, delicate layer that can be damaged just by wiping it with your glove or even your sleeve. Once it's scratched or removed, it's gone for good.

Be extra careful when changing lenses, especially on goggles with manual lens systems. Touching the inner lens during a swap can damage the anti-fog coating or even scratch the lens. Always handle them by the frame or outer edge and take your time.

2. Only clean the outer lens with microfiber

When it comes to cleaning the outside of the lens, use the soft microfiber bag that comes with your goggles; these are made specifically to clean the lens without scratching it. Never use tissues, paper towels, or your jacket.

3. Dry them properly after a day on the mountain

Moisture is the enemy when storing goggles. After riding, don’t toss them straight into your backpack or leave them crammed in the car. Instead, let them air dry in a warm, dry room,  but keep them away from direct heat sources like radiators or heaters, which can warp the frame or damage the lens coating.

4. Use proper storage to extend their life

If you want your goggles to last, how you store them matters just as much as how you wear them.
Here's the move:

  • Make sure they’re fully dry before packing them away

  • Store them in a protective case to prevent scratches and impact damage

  • For extra peace of mind, toss in a moisture-absorbing sachet (like the silica gel packets from new shoes or backpacks) to keep humidity in check

A goggle sock is also a great idea for daily use. It adds an extra layer of protection when you're on the move.

Bonus Tip: Be smart about snow buildup

If your goggles get covered in snow, don’t wipe them right away. Shake off the snow gently, let them sit for a minute, and then dry them naturally. Wiping when wet = smearing = fog = frustration.
