Meghan our Retail Manager has been buying ski gear for Rhythm for over 12 years so she’s a bit of an expert when it comes to outerwear. Here are her top picks for Women’s outerwear from the gear we have received so far for the 2017 winter season.
Kjus – Formula Ski Jacket – Pink: $1,199
Rhythm’s verdict:
Unless you’ve tried on a Kjus jacket you won’t understand why they are the price they are. They certainly aren’t within everyone’s price range but if you can spend that little bit more come in and try it on. You’ll feel the difference. This 20K/20K jacket will keep you dry and warm while allowing you to feel a little bit of luxury on the slopes.

Picture – Ponoka 2.0 Ski Jacket – Grey Melange: $399
Rhythm’s verdict:
Picture is a brand that was new to Australia last year and we fell in love straight away! All of their garments are so different and the bonus is Picture as a brand are very environmentally aware with this jacket made from 51% recycled Polyester. This jacket has leather sleeves and fits really well. Our model (Meghan the Retail Manager) is a size 8-10 and is wearing an 8 in this photo.
Features:
- 10/10
- Ski Pass pocket
- Hand warmer pockets
- Fake and removable Fur
- Removable snowskirt
Ripcurl – Chic ski jacket (Fancy or Printed): $349.99
Rhythm’s verdict:
This jacket actually comes in 4 different colours and we couldn’t decide our favourite. With so many block colours it is good to see the pattern in the black and white but those other colours are hard to go by also. Jacket fits well but isn’t the longest so if you prefer a longer jacket keep reading. Some people like their jacket to sit just below their back so it is all personal preference.
Features:
- 10/10
- Polyester with DWR treatment
- Bottom tightening system
- Removable fur
- 5 outside pockets, 1 inside
Picture – Weekend ski jacket – Burgundy White: $349
Rhythm’s verdict:
We are undecided whether this jacket looks better with white or navy pants? White is very much in this season, all across the Northern Hemi white was everywhere. Either way it is a nice bright jacket broken up by the white, mountain shaped top and cork details. Love the bright pink hand gaiters, not that they will really be seen but it is a nice touch!
Features:
- 10/10
- 45% recycled polyester
- Ski Pass pocket
- Tactile smartphone pocket
- Hand gaiters
Roxy – Essence 2L Gore-Tex snowboard jacket: $599.99
Rhythm’s verdict:
This jacket rocks! Whether you like the look of it or not this jacket is quality. As the name suggests this jacket is Gore-tex, if you don’t know what that means check out our blog post here. But in shirt it is extremely water and wind proof. Being Gore-tex is this jackets only feature, Roxy have really thought about the rider when making this jacket. The insulation is PrimaLoft, the zippers are YKK, the hood is adjustable, the pockets are made to be practical and it comes with a neck warmer using their Biotherm technology.
Features:
- Gore-tex
- PrimaLoft insulation
- Jacket to pant attachment system
- Comes with Roxy X Biotherm Enjoy and Care neck warmer
- 3-way adjustable hood
Roxy – Jet Ski Premium Snowboard Jacket: $399.99
Rhythms verdict:
This jacket won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, we reckon people will either love or hate it. We love it. Why not stand out with a bright jacket? We matched it with the Armada Kiska Gore-tex ski pant and reckon it is a totally winner.
Features:
- 15/15
- 3M Thinsulate
- 3-way adjustable hood
- Roxy X Biotherm integrated in the collar (read about it here)
- Wrist gaiters
Karbon – South Ski Jacket – Blue: $699
Rhythm’s verdict:
This jacket actually comes in 3 colours but the blue was the pick of the bunch for us. It is so bright, we love it. The great thing is this jacket will go with so many different pants. We matched it with the black Armada Vista Gore-Tex ski pant because of the fit and we figured a lot of people out there already own black pants.
Features:
- 20/20
- Detachable fully adjustable integro hood
- Hydrostretch PRO w/ Karbonite
- 100 weight Thermolite Active Insulation
- Super fine nylon lining
Picture – Katniss Ski Jacket – Dark Blue: $349

For 2017 this is our favourite women’s jacket for appearance. Of course every jacket is for a different purpose but for resort skiing and après this jacket is perfect. We love the length, the cut and the look of it.
Features:
- 10/10
- 51% Recycled Polyester
- Hand gaiters
- Fake and removable fur
- Snowskirt
