Rhythm Snow Sports is the only importer of Stepchild Snowboards in Australia. Stepchild are a Canadian born brand who are known for their quality and light-made decks.
We tried out the Latch-Key in near perfect Aussie snow, although visibility was low so it inhibited really opening up on this board. It is designed for beginners and intermediates who are keen to increase their park and freestyling skills, so it fit the conditions perfectly.
You can instantly feel its lightweight design the moment you throw it sideways. Its pop isn't the best out there, although its carbon stringers made it seem little in comparison to the best available decks.
We tested out the camber version, but they come in a rocker option too. No matter which you choose, their soft tip and tail, mid to soft flex and light mass ensures that you can develop your tricks at an efficient rate. Your butters and presses will naturally flow.
Overall, this board is enjoyable to ride. It's fast, responsive and catered to expanding your trick repertoire.
