Intro

The base of your ski is much like your skin - it needs mosturing every now and then to stay smooth and healthy. How often you wax your skis will depend on; how often you use them, where you store them and the abrasivnes of the snow your skiing on.

Frequency: For skiers, skiing 3+ times a week, a fortnightly wax would be resonable, weekly preferable and monthly minimal. If you don't have the gear or space to have your own set-up and you hit the trails only a few times a season, you should minimally ensure you get a storage wax put on during the off season, and ideally one additional wax mid season.

Storage Wax: If you only get one wax a season make sure it's a storage wax for the off season! Skis bases are porous and sensitive to changes in tempreture and humidity. A storage wax wil keep the ski from drying out and becoming brittle.

In the 1940s, Börje Gabrielsson loved cross-country skiing but was frustrated by skis that lacked grip and glide on varying terrain. Therefore, he called for a scientifically tested ski wax that could handle such challenges.
