FAQ's

DO I NEED SPECIFIC SOCKS FOR SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING?

Ski and snowboard socks are specifically designed for the sport. They are usually long, so they do not get caught on your ski or snowboard boots. They are designed for cold temperatures and are also slick with no bulky stitching or seams to get caught up in your boots.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SOCKS FOR SKIING?

Our skiers in store love Le Bent for there low volume and light cushioning in the shin area for extra comfort in the high impact zone. They have excellent breath-ability and superior warmth. Another favourite are the Sumo Sox, they offer an affordable ski sock with 50% merino wool, these snow socks will wick away sweat and keep your toes toasty warm all day long.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SOCKS FOR SNOWBOARDING?

Our snowboarders love the Burton range because of the elastic supportive arch and quick dry technology that keep toes warm and dry all day. Burtons snowboarding sock range also are stank resistant, perfect for smelly snowboard boots. Another range our snowboarders love are the Volcom Snowboard socks, these come in lightweight to heavyweight and has a cushion impact zone with a stay-up cuff to keep them in place!

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SKI AND SNOWBOARD SOCKS?

To be honest, there isn't really! Skiers can wear "snowboard branded" socks and snowboarders can use "ski branded" socks. Some features are more favored to skiers such as shin cushioning as ski boots can be quite hard and harsh on the shins. Sometimes snowboarders prefer thinner socks, as snowboard boots are softer than ski boots.

SHOULD SKI SOCKS BE THICK OR THIN?

This is personal preference! Some people prefer a more cushion feel and others prefer a lightweight thin ski sock that aren't that noticeable. A common misconception is that thicker ski socks are warmer, this isn't always the case! Materials used in the sock are what makes the difference with warmth. Materials such as merino wool tend to be warmer than polyester as it wicks moisture and sweat resulting in warmer feet!
