Having the correct binding for your riding style is extremely important as a snowboarder. The right binding will make your day on the mountain more enjoyable and safer too.

At Rhythm Snowsports we stock an awesome range of snowboard bindings from all the top brands; Burton, Union, Nitro, Spark RnD and more. This includes men's, women's & kids bindings in a variety of colours so you can look stylish while you ride.

If you’re not sure where to start when selecting your new bindings, our team of friendly experts are on hand to help. Our workshop also offers a fitting service so you can have your bindings mounted and ready to go!

What are the different types of snowboard binding?

  • Standard - the original type of binding. The binding attaches your snowboard boot to your board via a footplate.
  • EST/ Channel - designed by the team at Burton, EST stands for Extra Sensory Technology and is designed for greater response and performance. The mounting point of the binding does not sit under the foot, as in standard bindings, but instead beside it, giving a closer connection to the board. EST bindings are only compatible with channel boards.
  • Step-On - these strapless bindings make getting up and riding quicker than ever. As the name suggests, you step into the binding and your boots is held in place by connection points at the front and back of the boot. Step-On bindings are only compatible with Step-On boots.
  • Splitboard - if you’re hitting the backcountry, chances are you’ll be riding a splitboard. Splitboard bindings are more lightweight and allow a greater range of movements to that you can ride downhill as well as traverse across the mountain..

How do I know my snowboard binding size?
Your snowboard binding size will depend on your boot size, and boot brand/manufacturer. To check your binding size, you can speak to a member of our team or check the manufacturer's website which will convert your shoe size into a binding size. Sizes typically range from XS to XL but differ by brand.

Should I choose soft or stiff bindings?
Correct flex types and material are just as important as size for bindings. The stiffness of your binding comes down to your riding style and what you pair your bindings with; snowboards and boots also have stiffness ratings, so it's best to discuss this with a snowboard tech who can help you plan the perfect set-up.
